Internet Peacocking

As the credits finish and THE END comes onscreen, I am happy the end as come. There is a short list of things I have been as happy to end as Final Fantasy. I’ve been a fan of the series since a kid named Josh brought his PS2 to summer camp one day and I caught a glimpse of Final Fantasy IX. I was raised on a pair of Sega Genesis consoles and later and N64 and was totally unprepared for the sights I was seeing. He already had the airship and was going about the world, showing off to the world how strong his characters were. I still remember him summoning Ifrit and being really amazed at the graphics and the lifelike qualities of the fake creature. It was totally unlike the sidescrollers and later party games I was fed. It felt much more mature, kind of scientific, and I knew it had to be mine. I’m happy I was shown FF IX to get my interest in the series going because Final Fantasy (as in FF I) is really an awful fucking game. I started my sequential play through of the games to see how far they had come, and I never could have imagined the lengths would be as far as they are. When you start the game all of your characters have such piss poor accuracy that it’s common for whole rounds to pass without you hitting an enemy once, you can’t save on the main field without using some type of shelter (tent, cottage, ect), MP is instead replaced by spells on a leveled system where you get a set number that cannon be replenished any way but sleep, the order of your characters attacking and the attacks of the enemies are seemingly random and happen often in the worst order possible, and it is very short especially when you strip away how much time was level grinding fluff, you have 4 silent protagonists, you get not direction on what you are supposed to do/where you are supposed to go after the first 5 minutes of the game, there’s no world map (or if there was I couldn’t find how to activate it in over 12 hours of gameplay), and I swear the enemy encounters up once you become injured heavily in an attempt to fuck you over. This game as left me afraid as to when this series gets good. I have some experience with IV and liked my time playing it very much, but god me I hope I don’t have to play through a game as bad as this ever again.

My computer is alive…

Final fantasy 1,2,3,5, and 6 came in the mail today. I now have every game from 1 to 13 (even 11 though my computer was very shitty when it came out and I never got around to playing it) and will be starting a playthrough of each, in order, to the end. I have never been so excited to lock myself in a bedroom for the rest of summer/year.

I just learned my tounge is blue in all the pictures from the house show because I drank like 3 things of mondo before we played. I’m actually more excited for pictures now that I was before.

Yes, my biggest issue with Fleet Foxes is Robin Pecknold sitting down. The dude sits down while he has a guitar strap on. Again, the dude sits down while he has a guitar strap (which enables the wearer to be mobile, or at the very least stand up) on. Is he aware that he is fronting a band? Christ.

I have grown a full beard out of nothing but neglect and laziness.

This also means a year since my computer first died.

I have to write/learn an hour of material and have it ready to be performed in a week.
